Food Drive Successful
Add texOn Saturday May 4, the Rotary Club of Bellport held their Rotary Day of Service, a bit earlier than Rotary International designated it to be on May 18. With the generosity of King Kullen of Patchogue Bellport Rotary club had to be scheduled a few weeks earlier for a Food Drive. Rotary Day of Service encompasses 750 Rotary clubs across 10 states and 4 countries: the USA, Bermuda, Brazil and Canada volunteering in their communities on May 18, 2024.

Thanks to Rotarian Laraine Morano, a teacher of Bellport High School, for organizing high school honor students and the Interact Club to assist in this community Service.

Within 3 hours, 32 bags of food were collected, and will be delivered next week to 3 local church pantries: LCOS of Patchogue, St Paul's Episcopal Church, and Mary Immaculate Roman Catholic Church in Bellport.t here
Matthew J. Palace Memorial Award created.
Saturday, April 6th at The Legacy Gala of the Boys & Girls Club of Bellport, we gathered to remember our friend and Bellport Rotarian Matt Palace, with an on going memorial award in his name. An awardee will be selected each year at Bellport High School graduation to use the funds to further their education whether they are college bound or opt to be trained in the trades. Thank you to his family, friends and The Boys and Girls club of Bellport for creating this legacy in Matt’s name. He would be so grateful and proud. To make a donation in Matt’s honord to the BGCB.
Rotarians of Bellport welcome you. Interested? Contact us, today.
Bellport Rotarians and Interactors Assist in Endangered Species Protection
Bellport High School students had great weather for the Fire Island National Seashore piping plover fence project on Saturday, March 30, 2024, aimed at protecting the Federally threatened/NY State endangered Piping plovers (Charadrius melodus). They worked together with rangers to install fencing, flagging, and signs as well as to collect trash on the beach.
Piping plovers migrate from winter quarters on the Florida Gulf coast and the Caribbean to nest on the sandy beaches of the northeast. Every spring, Fire Island National Seashore, located south of Long Island, NY, begins its piping plover monitoring and protection program. Symbolic fencing composed of posts, string lines, and orange flagging is installed along most of the 26-mile National Seashore beaches. March 30, 2024
